All Elite Wrestling was rocked when long time completer Kris Statlander won the Women’s Championship at the All Out Pay-per view on September 20.
Statlander was in a four-way match with the defending champion ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm, Jamie Hayter and Thekla. Statlander rolled up Storm in a key moment in the match and won her first major championship in her career.
Statlander followed up with a successful title defense against Storm at Wrestledream, winning the match despite taking all of Storm’s best moves.
It has been a long road for Statlander who came into All Elite Wrestling in 2019, losing her first few matches, but impressed enough to be signed to a contract.
Although she would become The TBS Champion in 2023, Statlander would have a few injuries and even became a villain and having Stokely Hathaway as a manager, whom she broke away from first chance she got.
The key to all of this is her epic feud with Willow Nightengale, her one-time friend, now the two of them have battled in all kinds of matches and it seems the rivalry will never end.
This caught the attention of Jon Moxley and his Death Riders. With Wheeler Yuta opening trying to recruit Statlander into the dangerous group.
Finally, Statlander captured the AEW Women’s championship and had her first defense against Mina Shirakawa when The Death Riders made their offer to Statlander to join. But Statlander rejected the offer, even insulting their leader Moxley and gaining an ally in Harley Cameron.
After her victory at Wrestledream, Statlander was challenged by 10-title belt holder Mercedes Mone’. Mone’ is also on a quest to win the AEW Women’s Championship that has eluded her in her multi-title quest. Statlander taking on Mone’ is another dream match that has to happen, and could be the Match of the Year.
Statlander is on a mission to become the galaxy’s greatest.
